ObsessedLet’s get the obvious out of the way first: This is not a love story. Like the title says, this is one character lusting after another, both metaphorically and physically. Straight-up erotica and pretty much what it says on the tin.

Though it falls somewhere between the length of a short story and a novella, there’s not much character development, and what little there is never paints Meik as any sort of sympathetic hero.

The descriptive writing is detailed and incredibly sexy, but there were a few distracting point of view errors (and by the middle of the text, I was tired of the repetitive hair and eye color details).

I wish I’d gotten to know more about Sebastian, but getting to know him as a person rather than a body fits into Meik’s viewpoint perfectly. Meik is an ass, but an interesting ass, and I promptly purchased the second in the series.

Obsessed 2I dove straight into this follow-up immediately after finishing the first. In this installment, we get a little bit of character development and backstory for Meik (Sebastian is still a blank slate, for the most part). There’s still plenty of sexy bits to enjoy!

I appreciate that there is discussion of issues regarding safe sex, even when that topic is not particularly sexy. I almost put this book down at one point when it looked like Meik was verging into abuse territory rather than just being an egotistical jerk, but he saved himself just in time.

Meik continues to be an ass, but now he’s an ass with baggage. I have already pre-ordered the next installment in this series.

Rating: 4 (out of 5) stars. Cross-posted to Amazon and Goodreads.
