In August 2024, I’m excited to combine two of the loves of my life: cruising and LGBTQ+ fiction and romance. I hope you’ll consider joining me on the first Rainbow Readers Cruise! Until then, I’d love to introduce you to one of the attending authors, K.M. Neuhold.

About K.M. Neuhold

K.M. Neuhold is a complete romance junkie. Bisexual and polyamorous, she often describes herself as being in love with love. She loves to write stories full of bearded, cinnamon roll men who get super swoony HEAs. Her philosophy is there’s so much angst and sadness for LGBT characters in media, all she wants is to give them the happiest happily ever afters she can with little angst, tons of humor, and SO MUCH STEAM. K.M. fully admits to her tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory that will likely always lead to every book turning into a series or spin-off. When she’s not writing she’s a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero…just kidding, she’s likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her huskies while her amazing husband brings her coffee.

Interview

If drinks by the pool are already a given, what are you most looking forward to about the Rainbow Readers Cruise?

Meeting readers is ALWAYS a blast. It’s really special to hear from readers how my books have impacted them and truly so much fun to get to know everyone on a more personal level. I’ve also never been on a cruise before, so I’m excited for the whole experience of that. Hopefully, I won’t get seasick.

Which of your books would you recommend as the best way for readers to get to know you before meeting you on the cruise?

Caulky (Four Bears Construction #1). I kind of look at my career in MM romance as having two phases. Early on, I was finding my footing and trying out some different things that were often a lot more on the angsty side. But when I came up with the idea for the Four Bears series, that’s when I really felt like I found my voice in this genre and figured out what I love to write the most, which is high heat, lots of humor, and very little relationship angst. My older stuff is great and has so much heart as well, but for a good idea of what to expect from me now and going forward, Caulky is the perfect place to start.

Which of your characters (from any story) would you most like to go on a cruise with?

Stone, hands down. He’s the life of any party, absolutely ridiculous, and will always keep you guessing. He would probably try to smuggle a goat or two into his luggage and then you’d find them sharing an inflatable together, sipping drinks in the pool.

Even if you don’t use this trip as fodder for a future project, most stories require a bit of research. Can you tell us the coolest thing you’ve learned while researching for your work, regardless of whether it made it into the text?

That testicles have taste buds. Not as strong as on the tongue, but if the flavor of something is strong enough, someone with a scrotum could taste it faintly by rubbing their balls on it. No, I do not condone tea-bagging anyone else’s food just to find out.

Hey, this is supposed to be a review blog! Recommend your favorite book that I should read and review by another author joining us on this high-seas adventure.

Virginia Kelly’s Forbidden Desires series that she co-writes with Piper Scott is absolutely Can’t Miss. Fire-breathing dragons, fated mates, egg preg, family drama, it seriously has it all.

Finally, what other projects are you working on currently?

I’m currently working on the next book in my Palm Island series. Easy Does It is an ULTRA swoony best-friends-to-lovers with a demisexual-ish awakening, soul mate level connection, and tons of island fun. It’s about as low angst as anything could possibly get, just two best friends taking things to the next level. Easy Does It is planned for an early February release, and the whole Palm Island series will be the perfect thing to get you in the mood for our tropical cruise adventure!
