I really try not to be one of those people who judges a book by the cover, but I don’t think there can be any argument that the cover of Burn For Me is about the most romance cover to ever be a romance cover.
I don’t care. Buy the book anyway.
Ilona Andrews overturns a lot of the urban fantasy tropes in their other books, and they do the same with paranormal romance in this new series. The romance side includes both the almost-love-triangle and the antagonists-to-lovers tropes, but both are handled without stereotype with lots of intriguing twists. On the paranormal side, this story takes place in an interesting alternate universe that presents magic and extraordinary abilities in a new way.
The setting and world-building stick out in my head a lot more than the main characters, but the secondary characters of the heroine’s family were delightful. I’m not sure whether future books in this series will continue the stories of Nevada and Rogan or switch to another love story, but I hope to see more of Nevada’s family either way.
Fans of the Kate Daniels series should check out this novel if they don’t mind a heavier dose of romance. Any fans of paranormal romance will enjoy this novel.

I also hated the cover, and I hated with such a burning passion that it took me forever to download the ebook. But I did, I read it, and loved it. So yay!
I’ve been meaning to try something by Andrews for a while. I even have a copy of Magic Bites on my shelf, but I’ve never managed to be in the mood. Maybe this is the entry point I’ve been looking for…
