This particular collection of books by writing team Ilona Andrews is published as serial novels on their website. When I read the first book in the Innkeeper Chronicles, I was really afraid that it was going to be a meandering mess. However, I ate up the first book (Clean Sweep) and was happy to come back for more.
I thought for sure that Sweep in Peace would continue the love story that begins in book 1, so I was pleased to see that this novel was almost completely dedicated to awesome interstellar politics and the delicate balance of over-sized egos. Despite the large number and types of characters, I never had a problem keeping anyone separate.
A bonus surprise was one of my favorite characters from Andrews’ Edge series, all grown up and totally bad-ass.
The final version of this book, though self-published, is a high-quality product with no noticeable editing issues. I can’t speak to how they are presented on the authors’ website since I wait not-so-patiently to buy the completed versions and devour them.
There’s so much potential in this multiverse that I know the authors have just barely started to scratch the surface.
