Review: Elle by Night (Dommes by Night #2) by Rachell Nichole

elle by nightDisclaimer: The author is a friend of mine; however, I purchased this ebook for full price.

The premise of this book immediately hooked me. Two dominants sparring with each other, even by telephone? Yes, please. However, Jo and Spencer immediately proved themselves to be amazing and three-dimensional characters. That 3D part is key in a sub-genre not always known for its subtlety.

In fact, while I enjoyed the interplay between “Elle” and “Sin” on the phone, I was much more invested in the relationship between Jo and Spenser in real life, especially regarding their background baggage and how it affected their communication.

Unlike the previous book in this series, I was pleased that all the cards were on the table earlier in the text, and that we got to see the pair’s full relationship bloom. The external conflict was also intriguing, and I literally cackled out loud at the resolution. Even knowing how it all ends, I can see this being a read I turn to again in the future when I need an escape.

Rating: 5 (out of 5) stars. Cross-posted to Amazon and Goodreads.
