This may be the dumbest timeline ever, or a roller coaster I’d really like to escape, but I’m hanging in there for now. Early last month, I had some resolution about doing more yoga, but scratch that. New 2025 resolution: Keep writing, reading, and championing stories that feature love, queer and other minority voices, and all the nontraditional shenanigans that I adore, for as long as I can.
Before we dive into the meat of this month’s newsletter, I also want to note that February is (still) Black History Month! I would not be where I am today as a writer if not for two amazing Black men. Professor Jeffrey Coleman was my academic and thesis advisor during my undergrad years at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He oversaw my journey through contemporary American literature, along with all my crazy detours through topics such as Dante’s Divine Comedy and German film, and supported the first stories that would eventually become the world of the Steel Empires and Steel Bonds series. John Edward Lawson, co-owner of Raw Dog Screaming Press, gave that world its first true home and helped nurture a weird urban fantasy novel into a 7-book epic adventure. I’ve learned so much from him and his wife, editor Jennifer Barnes, and their support as I’ve spread my wings into the world of self-publishing has been invaluable.
Now Available!
My newest M/M paranormal romance is a standalone novella set in the Steel Bonds series. A few tropes you’ll find in this story:
- werewolf/human
- boss/employee
- worst personal assistant ever
- fated mates (in a world without fated mates)

- Blood and Ink (Steel Bonds #2): So many incoherent notes that I need to form into some sort of rational outline… I can’t wait to get to know Asaron and Gan! [preorder]
