In August 2024, I’m excited to combine two of the loves of my life: cruising and LGBTQ+ fiction and romance. I hope you’ll consider joining me on the first Rainbow Readers Cruise! Until then, I’d love to introduce you to one of the attending authors, KC Burn.
About KC Burn
KC Burn is a Canadian transplanted to Florida who writes happy-ever-afters about men loving men, whether they’re psychics, space travelers, aliens, professors, construction workers, cops, amateur sleuths… You name it, she’ll probably write it. She’s got a pair of black cats, aka muses/nuisances, and a supportive, understanding hubby.
Interview
If drinks by the pool are already a given, what are you most looking forward to about the Rainbow Readers Cruise?
I love doing book events. As much support as I get for writing IRL, it isn’t the same as hanging out with other book people, who truly understand why it is I do what I do.
Which of your books would you recommend as the best way for readers to get to know you before meeting you on the cruise?
Probably North on Drummond. I love the book, because it was so much fun to write, and also hits a spot that I generally like to read. Specifically, it has a little paranormal, a little mystery, and some romance. However, I do have a couple of freebies out there in the world if someone is just looking for a wee taste.
Which of your characters (from any story) would you most like to go on a cruise with?
Probably Tony from Three Dates of Christmas. Tony and Dean are loosely based on me and my husband (as in, I’m a Grinch and hubby isn’t). Hubby and I have been together over thirty years, so I’m betting I’d enjoy hanging out with Tony.
Even if you don’t use this trip as fodder for a future project, most stories require a bit of research. Can you tell us the coolest thing you’ve learned while researching for your work, regardless of whether it made it into the text?
Probably the different theories on time travel. Don’t ask me to explain it now because it turned my brain into a pretzel at the time and I’ve done my best to forget it all but it was super fascinating. But don’t go looking for my time travel book. It hasn’t happened yet, lol.
Hey, this is supposed to be a review blog! Recommend your favorite book that I should read and review by another author joining us on this high-seas adventure.
This is a really tough question! I’ve read almost all of the authors coming on the cruise, and I love them all! So I’m gonna cheat and give you a few recommendations
- LB Gregg – witty, fun books. The Romano & Albright series is probably my fav
- Kiernan Kelly – fun, fun shifter books. The Midnight Rodeo series definitely qualifies
- Victoria Sue – cool concepts with all the feels – the Enhanced series
I could go on, but probably shouldn’t!
Finally, what other projects are you working on currently?
I’m currently working on the third Sandy Bottom Bay book, which, fingers crossed, will be available for the cruise. We’ll see!
