Another month, another late start. I promise to try not to make this a habit. Lots happened in April, including two trips, a major deadline, a household milestone, and a long-time dream!
The spouse and I briefly escaped to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for a long weekend with my family, where I got some fabulous outdoor writing time (with a mimosa or two). Later in the month, I attended my first book signing of 2025, the amazing Read the Rainbow event in Havre de Grace, Maryland. While there, I finally got my first tattoo!
The pandemic derailed my original plan to get inked after the publication of Steel Justice, so this has been about 10 years coming. The symbol represents “home” in the Stargate universe, which has been one of my favorite science-fiction properties for nearly 20 years. As a military brat who grew up all over the place, having this symbol permanently on my skin now means that from now on, wherever I am, I’m home.
Finally, April 30 was Lucy’s 16th birthday, and this May 15 is Alex’s 16th birthday! Somewhere in there, I also completed and submitted my story for this year’s Valdemar anthology, so wish me luck on acceptance!
And because life doesn’t stop, I’m heading out of town again in a little over a week. I’ll be an attending author at Queers and Quills in Portland, Oregon, over Memorial Day weekend. Will I see you there?
