Let’s start this month (which started almost a week ago, appropriately) with a question and a statement.

  1. Where did the time go?
  2. Time is meaningless.

Okay, now that we’re on the same page, the rest of this monthly update will make a lot more sense. My work productivity levels were pretty low because I’ve been white-knuckling the world to also keep my anxiety levels down, and that feels like a major accomplishment all on its own.

I promise that loud gasp you heard the other day was for good reasons, though. I unlocked another author achievement: A reader got a tattoo inspired by my books! She combined her love of Avatar: The Last Airbender with the elemental magic of my Steel Empires and Steel Bonds series by slipping in the lightning bolt icon to represent Toria’s storm power. I’m incredibly honored and humbled by this show of love for my work.

I’ll let that lovely bit of emotional encouragement carry me through yet another month. I’m glad all of you are here to hang on with me.

Read the Rainbow Preorder Form Closing

Will you be in Havre de Grace, Maryland, later this month for the Read the Rainbow signing event? I will have all my titles on hand, but guarantee your copies by using my preorder form before it closes on Tuesday, April 8!

Updates & Upcoming

In Progress

  • 2025 Valdemar anthology short story: Outline complete, first draft started! This is due to the editor in a few short weeks, so completion and submission is my priority for April.
  • Blood and Ink (Steel Bonds #2): Outline complete, first draft started! I’m only about 4k words in (see struggles above), but I’m still excited to tell this story and I’m committed to a 2025 release date. [preorder]
