A mere week after getting home from my epic West Coast adventure, I hit the road again! This time, for another new event a little closer to home. Pride Litcon was a single-day book signing in Richmond, Virginia, and yet another new event that I hope continues for years to come.

I picked up fellow author Rory Maxwell on Friday afternoon, and we headed south (promptly running into way too much DC traffic, but such is life around the beltway). Rory used to live in Richmond, so one of her friends was kind enough to host us at her place for the weekend.

Saturday

The perk to traveling with Rory is that she is one of the most competent people I know. So, when I spill coffee all over my car (and miraculously not on myself) first thing in the morning and low-key panic, she acquires paper towels and cleaner from the grocery store we are parked next to and helps me clean up. Luckily, that was the worst thing that happened all day!

This signing was a relatively chill local affair that saw steady traffic all day from many readers. Some were familiar with many of the authors there, but even better, many were there to support a Pride event and look for something new! I especially appreciated that not all of the authors wrote in the M/M romance genre, with many other pairings included, and even those writing queer representation in other genres (including a memoir!).

Friends, I need to become much better at remembering to take pictures at these things. Your job, the next time you see me at an event, is to remind me! This is literally the only one I have, and while I do think my table setup is pretty cool, my con reports could also be cooler.

After the event, Rory and I killed time in a bookstore, where we had way too much professional fun judging the current cover design trends. I was invited to join a birthday dinner for one of Rory’s Richmond friends, then we rushed over to a local gelato place for dessert before they closed, then finally crashed for the night. The drive home the next morning was happily traffic-free!
