This book is a significant departure from other titles I’ve read by this author, but since my heart belongs to the urban fantasy genre, I knew I had to check it out. In this paranormal romance, Wells explores the shifter and fated mates tropes in this fun action-adventure romp that includes an epic heist and a sweet romantic through-line.

I had a blast with all of the characters, both the main trio and the fun supporting roles. Wells uses expected tropes as a baseline but develops three-dimension personalities beyond that, even for the secondary characters. I’m incredibly curious about whether the next book in this series will continue to feature Dellan, Rael, and Horvan as the main romantic group or whether other romances (fated or not) will appear.

Though a major plot element is developed and resolved in this book, Wells makes it clear that there is plenty more to explore and even drops a bit of a fun cliffhanger that immediately intrigued me. I’ll definitely be checking out further titles when they’re released, but I hope that Wells pushes the boundaries a bit more in the next installment. This book was much more fun than it was tense. Which is totally okay as a writing choice, but I think plenty of opportunities existed for significantly more conflict than Wells allowed her characters to face here. I also had some minor issues with the world-building that I hope are also addressed further in the next books.

I recommend this book to readers looking for low-angst paranormal romance with a fun poly bent. The series title might be a bit cliché, but I enjoyed how Wells played with it to create this enjoyable book.
