This is very much a story of two small-town guys and what it’s like living in a small town, despite the fact that it’s been invaded by Hollywood. The author obviously did her research when it came to both Lucas and Gabe’s specialties (sculpture and horsemanship), and their passions for their work (and each other, ahem) flow off the page.
The angst and unwillingness of the characters to properly communicate with each got to be a bit much at times. However, there were plenty of hilarious moments, compliments of the secondary characters, that more than made up for when the guys were being thick-headed and dense.
And, of course, I’m a sucker for a wedding (even if it’s not between the heroes).
I definitely hope to check in with these guys to see how they’re doing as the series progresses.
