Book Review: Light From the Grave by Sara Dobie Bauer
As a reviewer who occasionally reads and reviews her friends’ books, this can result in the peculiar scenario of writing about how much I loved a story that evolved from the grief experienced by a person I care for. Though there is a romance through-line to this book, the true themes involve how the two…

Book Review: Fate of the Moon by Sara Dobie Bauer
For readers who have not read “omegaverse” fiction before, this book is a well-crafted introduction to this intriguing subgenre. Bauer provides the reader with a brief but excellent primer on the intricacies of this world (werewolves, in this case) couched in the necessary description of Shay’s immediate circumstances. While not all takes on this type…

Review: This is Not a Horror Movie by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I am friends with the author; however, I purchased this book for full price. I happen to know that the author spends time every year in Longboat Key, Florida. Her love for this place shines through the pages of this entertaining book, filled to the brim with sweetness, humor, and just enough touches of…

Review: He Sees You When You’re Sleeping by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I am friends with this author; however, I purchased this ebook for full price. Another Christmas in July treat, except this novella is less sweet and more vaguely terrifying. Bauer manipulates the Santa Claus trope to create an otherworldly being who fulfills the role of Santa Claus but with significantly less cheer. Kris latches…

Review: Abstract Love by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I am friends with the author; however, I purchased this ebook at full price. I’m generally not a fan of the “enemies to lovers” or “gay for you” tropes in romance novels, so this book did not initially appeal to my taste. Except Bauer has repeatedly proven what an excellent author she is, so…

Review: Handsome Death by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I am friends with the author; however, I purchased this ebook for the full price. I am kicking myself for not reading this sooner. I have never failed to adore anything written by this author, and this might be my favorite book of hers so far. From the first page, Bauer subverts pretty much…

Review: Broken News by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I am friends with the author; I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. It’s common to refer to the main characters in a romance story as the heroes, but there are no heroes in this book. Eric West is an unabashed crime lord, and Will fully admits to being a bit…

Review: “A Lord to Love” by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I received a free electronic copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. I read a much earlier draft of this story, but it was just as much of a pleasure to read the final product a second time around. Bauer features the best of both worlds here: despite this being a…

Review: Escaping Mortality (Escape #3) by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. The cliffhanger at the end of book 2 in this trilogy, Escaping Solitude, left me frantic. Luckily, this installment picks up mere moments from where the previous left off and continues the story without missing a beat. This trilogy of novellas will make for a…

Review: Escaping Exile (Escape #1) by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I consider the author a friend; I received an electronic advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. The first thing you notice about this novella is the vibrant narrative voice. You learn everything you need to know about the main character and his circumstances within the first chapter, during the inciting incident,…

Review: “The Unexpected Infatuation” by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I consider the author a friend; however, I purchased this short story ebook for full price. I wasn’t sure about this short story at first. I’m not keen on the idea of anyone cheating in a relationship, nor do I particularly find the “gay for you” trope appealing. The writing of this story, however,…

Happy book birthday to an excellent sequel! Yesterday, I interviewed author Sara Dobie Bauer about her paranormal romance Bite Somebody. Today, I’m pleased to review the sequel, Bite Somebody Else. #Imogene4Life! ABOUT THE BOOK Imogene helped her newbie vampire friend Celia hook up with an adorable human, but now Celia has dropped an atomic bomb of surprise:…

Review: BITE SOMEBODY by Sara Dobie Bauer
Disclaimer: I acquired this novel at a convention through a book trade with the author, whom I consider a friend. Not gonna lie — I probably never would have picked this novel to read without outside influence. But I met the author at a convention and we hit it off immediately, and I knew based…
