This was a thrilling conclusion to a major part of the Hidden Legacy story line. Nevada Baylor’s family and her interactions with them are my one of my favorite parts of this series, and it was exciting to see plot progression on that front.
For some reason, I had it stuck in my head that this was a trilogy. Once I got to about 50 pages in the book left, I panicked, sure there was no way for everything to get tied up in that short space. The epilogue made it obvious, however, that things in this world are far from over.
I wouldn’t be so nervous if this was a typical urban fantasy series. However, these books are marketed as paranormal romance, with a romance imprint for a publisher. The relationship between Nevada and Rogan is an important (and awesome) part of the story, but my knowledge of genre conventions and the publishing industry has me worried that once Nevada and Rogan appear to have their “Happily Ever After,” the publisher will not be interested in future books in this world.
But the romance isn’t the only story, and there are still so many interesting things to explore.
Wildfire gave us a great look into more of Houston’s House politics, more types of amazing magic, and some amazing moments that come out of the combination of these things. (For example, Cornelius Harrison is my favorite non-Baylor character, and I kind of want my own Zeus.)
This is a not a book easily read without knowledge of what comes first. Readers already familiar with the Andrews’ work will be happy to know that, like with many of their books, this adventure contains many of the laugh (and gasp!) out loud moments we’ve come to love and expect.
Now that I know it’s not a trilogy, I’m already anxiously awaiting Hidden Legacy #4.

I can read your review now, as I just finished this book! And yay, I’m so glad there’s going to be another installment (do we know WHEN?). And yes, I want my own Zeus. The world-building here is wonderful, and I’d actually recommend this series to anyone wanting to get their feet wet with Andrews’ work. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Kate Daniels, but it’s a long series, and it was their debut, and that first book shows. At least here, if you get hooked, then you can be more forgiving when you start the Kate Daniels series.
Their contract was for three books, but they definitely want a fourth to start to tie things off, and I think have stated that they will self-pub if Avon isn’t interested.
